Every degree of slope changes how much surface area you are actually covering. This quick-reference table covers the most common pitch ratios used in residential roofing.

How to use: Multiply the ground footprint area by the slope factor to get the true sloped surface area. A 2,000 sq ft footprint at 6:12 pitch is 2,000 x 1.118 = 2,236 sq ft of actual roof surface.
