PPE by Trade
This is a minimum baseline. Always follow your employer program and any site-specific requirements.
General Construction (All Trades)
- Head: Hard hat (ANSI Z89.1 Type I or II, Class E for electrical exposure)
- Eye: Safety glasses (ANSI Z87.1) at all times on site
- Foot: Steel-toed boots (ASTM F2413)
Concrete / Masonry
- All general construction requirements, plus:
- Respiratory: P100 half-mask for cutting, grinding, or any dry masonry work
- Skin: Alkali-resistant gloves; concrete burns skin on prolonged contact
- Knee pads for flatwork finishing
Landscaping
- All general construction, plus:
- Hearing: Earplugs (NRR 25+) when operating gas-powered equipment
- Gloves: Cut-resistant for pruning; chemical-resistant for pesticide/herbicide application
- Sun protection: UV-rated long sleeves or SPF 30+ sunscreen; wide-brim hat under hard hat or bump cap
Roofing
- All general construction, plus:
- Fall arrest: Full-body harness (ANSI Z359) on any roof with a 6-ft or greater fall hazard
- Non-slip footwear: Rubber-soled boots for steep-slope work
