Job Site Emergency Response
Fast, calm action in the first five minutes of any emergency determines the outcome.
Injury Response
- Call 911 first if the injury is serious
- Do not move an injured worker unless they are in immediate danger
- Assign one person to guide emergency services to your location
- Preserve the scene for OSHA reporting if required
Fire
- Evacuate all personnel to the muster point; take a headcount
- Call 911
- Use a fire extinguisher only if the fire is small, you have an exit behind you, and you know how to use it (PASS: Pull, Aim, Squeeze, Sweep)
Utility Strike
- Gas line hit: Evacuate immediately, call 911 and the utility
- Electric line hit: Do not touch the equipment; call 911 and the utility
- Water main hit: Shut off at valve if accessible; call utility
